this is actually a story my chinese tutor posted on some social media website and i wanna translate it into english, cos its pretty amazing
there was once a mother and a little son. the mother asked her son, "if we were dying of thirst with no water, and you had two apples in your backpack, what would you do?" the son replies "i will take a bite from each apple". the mother was extremely disappointed in son. She was about to start lecturing him, telling him how selfish he was and warning him how it will affect his future. However, she changed her mind and asked "and why would you do that?" The son happily says: "because I would give the sweetest and juiciest apple to you of course". The mother was struck immediately, overwhelmed with emotions. The mother gave her son the chance to explain, before jumping to any conclusions. A chance to explain something means so much. Not being given that chance could lead to a negative relationship (between anyone). Being given that opportunity to explain is what love really is. Communication between parent and child.
Funnily enough, I actually couldn't understand what my tutor typed so had my mom read it to me in Chinese ^-^
